Thanksgiving is a national holiday that is traditionally celebrated in the USA on the fourth Thursday in November, falling on Thursday 28 November 2024.
The holiday is also celebrated on various dates in various other countries including Canada, Granada, St Lucia, and Liberia. It commemorates a time in 1621, when the English colonists, known as the ‘Pilgrims’, are thought to have shared a feast with the Wampanoag Native Americans, who had helped them survive their first winter in North America.
