Celebrate Christmas Day and enjoy December events at the International Student House

The International Student House (ISH) has helped London-based students from around the world to engage in cultural activities and make friends along the way for many years.

Christmas Day

The charity – which is a partner of the University of Westminster – is hosting a series of events throughout December. It is also hosting a special Christmas Day celebration, featuring Christmas food and other festivities. If you would like to join, just head to their Facebook or Instagram page and look out for an event link to the celebration when it is posted.

Please note that there will be no public transport available on Christmas Day and limited public transport between Friday 24 December, 2021 and Monday 3 January, 2022. Taxis and some other services will still be available.

December events

Ice skating, a tour of historic Greenwich, karaoke and live concerts are just some of the other events organised throughout December for students to take part in, which you can find out about on their website. Book tickets to see British five-piece Indy band Cheekbone, along with a bunch of supporting acts, on Christmas Day.

The ISH

The ISH is a charity with the goal of fostering an international community in the heart of the city and uplifting London-based students from around the world to achieve their academic aims.

Its building, which includes a bar and café named The Thirsty Scholar, is a stone’s throw from Oxford Street and a hub for students from a range of universities to get to know each other. It’s easy for Westminster students to access:

  • From Marylebone Campus, walk for five minutes along Marylebone Road and find the building opposite Great Portland Street tube station
  • From both New Cavendish Street Campus and Regent Street Campus, the ISH is only a 10-minute walk
  • From Harrow Campus, the ISH building opposite Great Portland Street tube station is only five stops on the Metropolitan line from Northwick Park

The charity also runs events and activities throughout the year, so it’s worth keeping tabs on their website after you return for the next semester. On top of this, the ISH provides accommodation to students while they study, scholarships and hardship funds.
