About Trees for Cities

Trees for Cities is dedicated to making cities all around the world greener by planting trees and restoring forgotten spaces. These projects also involve bringing communities together and teaching people valuable skills about growing.

The charity has teamed up with our partner Netcompany as well as Queen Mary University to bring this tree maintenance project to life.

Victoria Park project

These trees in Victoria Park were planted back in 2019 with the aim of creating a community orchard to enrich the public green space, increase the park’s biodiversity value and create a valuable local food resource.

This volunteering opportunity will give you, as students of Westminster, the chance to collaborate and get to know students from Queen Mary University. You’ll work together to learn about tree planting and maintenance, and you’ll get the opportunity to physically make a positive impact on this environment.

What will it involve?

Tasks will include:

  • Weeding
  • Mulching
  • Adjusting cages to give trees additional protection

Volunteers must commit to at least one hour.

If you’re interested, please come along. A member of the Trees for Cities team will meet you at the point shown on the map above. Call Oscar on 07591387653 for help finding the location.

The site is less than a 15-minute walk from Hackney Wick station.

For more information, including what to wear and bring, please see the Information Flyer.
