Are you a third-year or Master's student who identifies as Black or of Black mixed heritage? Do you aspire to lead, grow and thrive in your career? If yes, this programme starting January 2025 is designed specifically for you.
Black History Year Create is an intensive career-defining programme consisting of targeted workshops delivered by an external facilitator. At its core, Black History Year Create seeks to empower Level 6 and Masters (Level 7) Black students across the University in three key areas: confidence, visibility and individuality. Our approach is firmly rooted in decolonisation and addressing tokenism, microaggressions and systemic racism.
The core programme spans six months, starting from January 2025 and completing in June 2025. It includes workshops and insight days, complemented by career support via our Careers and Employability Service, online activities, independent study and reflection. Key topics covered include personal branding, addressing tokenism and effective storytelling.
The program is open to all Level 6 and Masters (Level 7) students of Black heritage from all colleges within the University. To apply, please email the Programme Chair Stephen Bunbury at [email protected]. Applications will close on Friday 29 November.
Your email should cover why you would like to be considered for this programme and how you expect to apply the learnings to succeed in your future career.
