Help our new undergraduate students have a great start here in September 2021!
A great start at university is all about making friends, learning the tricks of the trade, as well as having fun. We're looking for current students who would like to help make this happen during Arrivals for the new undergraduates joining us this September.
What do FANS do?
Our FANS (Friends of Arriving New Students) provide a personal welcome to new students at the University, helping them settle in and acting as their first point of contact for the first few weeks.
FANS are a vital part of the University welcome, this collaborative scheme between the University and the Students’ Union brings together the University Colleges, the Students’ Union and Corporate Services to deliver the best possible start for new students.
If you become one of our FANS, you will look after a group of new undergraduates during their orientation and help with areas in the following:
Campus & library tours
Local area and parts of London
Blackboard
Social activities and making friends
Course and academic sessions
Signposting, advice & tips
What are the benefits of being FANS?
There are many benefits to joining the scheme - previous FANS have described this experience as their highlight during their time at university.
As FANS, you'll get:
A cash reward on successful completion
Training in key transferable skills
Valuable volunteering experience
Teamwork and leadership skills
Points for Employability Award
Certificate to show completion of role
Networking opportunities and making new friendships
Being FANS means you can gain essential skills required for employment whilst having some great fun!
