Seasonal break 2021/22 opening hours
Security
During the holiday period, there will be a security presence at all our locations, even though our sites will be closed.
Our maintenance provider will also provide cover over the closure period to respond to any emergency maintenance issues.
Student Support Services
Student Support Services will operate as normal until 5pm on Thursday 23 December and will resume from Tuesday 4 January.
The Student Hub provides lots of online information and guidance on Student Support and Services.
Student Centre and Hub Live Chat
The Student Centre based on the ground floor in Marylebone Library provides valuable guidance on services to make a real difference to student life and wellbeing. The team can answer a large number of general queries and provide information about a diverse range of services and support.
In the week commencing Monday 20 December, The Student Centre will not provide an in-person service – but support will be available via The Hub live chat service. This will be available until 5pm on Thursday 23 December and The Student Centre will re-open as usual at 10am on Tuesday 4 January 2022.
Residential Life Services
Residential Life Services will operate throughout the closure period with support available via the staffed receptions.
Library Services
- Monday 20 - Friday 24 December
All Libraries will be open 10am-5pm from Monday 20 December to Thursday 23 December and 10am-12.30pm on Friday 24 December.
(Please note there will be no staffed service this week, but support will be available via The Library Live Chat service.)
- Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 December
All Libraries will be closed.
- Monday 27 December - Monday 3 January
Marylebone Library will be open 10am–8pm. (Please note there will be no staffed service during this time.)
Cavendish, Harrow and Regent (at Little Titchfield Street) libraries will be closed during this period.
Online library support and resources
The Library live chat service will operate as normal until 5pm on Thursday 23 December and from 10am on Tuesday 4 January 2022. The Guide to Library and Archives Services includes links to our large collection of electronic resources and academic skills training, all of which can be accessed at any time.
There will be no Inter Library Loan (ILL) service between Thursday 23 December and Tuesday 4 January.
Westminster Menswear Archive
The Westminster Menswear Archive will be open as usual until 5pm on Thursday 16 December. There will be limited staffing from Tuesday 4 January and normal service will resume from Monday 10 January.
Registry
Registry counters will be closed from Monday 20 December, re-opening on Tuesday 4 January.
The Registry Offices will still be available by email until Thursday 23 December at 5pm and will resume on Tuesday 4 January at 9am.
Online learning support and resources
Services and support for Blackboard and other online learning tools will operate as usual until 5pm on Thursday 23 December and will resume from 9am on Tuesday 4 January. Between these dates you can access our online support resources and knowledge bank for advice and guidance.
In addition, there will be 24/7 monitoring of Blackboard during the closure period by our service provider who will address any system issues or outages.
Service Desk and Information Systems and Support maintenance
ISS and Service Support Desk will operate as normal until 6.30pm on Thursday 23 December and will resume at 8.30am on Tuesday 4 January.
Access to University resources and platforms will still be available as normal during the seasonal break.
Careers and Employability Service
The Careers and Employability Service will be closed from Friday 24 December to Tuesday 4 January. There will still be some exciting content on the Careers’ social media channels during the seasonal break, focusing on careers, wellbeing and festivities plus an exciting Christmas competition on CES Instagram. Students’ Union
Students' Union services will be closed from 5pm on Friday 17 December to Monday 10 January at 10am. Emails sent to [email protected] or messages via their social media channels @westminstersu will be picked up from Monday 10 January.
