The University of Westminster wishes a very happy Lunar New Year to all students, colleagues, alumni and friends celebrating.
The Lunar New Year is the annual festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar calendar. The calendar is traditionally used in a number of Asian countries, including China, Vietnam, Singapore and South Korea, and is classed as one of the most important celebrations of the year.
The annual celebration corresponds with a different animal from the Chinese zodiac, which consists of 12 different animals, cycling through over 12 years. 2024 marks the Year of the Year of the Dragon (or Naga in Thailand) and the Dragon holds a significant place as an auspicious and extraordinary creature, unparalleled in talent and excellence. It symbolises power, nobility, honour, luck, and success. This year, Lunar New Year begins on 10 February 2024.
The University of Westminster wishes a very happy Lunar New Year to all of its students, colleagues, alumni and friends that are celebrating.
