Join us for a distraction-free, stretch of writing time where you can focus on your academic (or any other kind of) writing.

Come with a project in mind, ideally something you've been procrastinating on or find challenging to approach and experience the support of working on it in community.

This mini-retreat taster is based on the structured-writing retreat model devised by Rowena Murray (Murray and Newton, 2009). The aim is to provide and enforce research/writing time, in a relaxed, supportive and peaceful environment.

After some goal-setting and a brief share, the group will write together, during strictly prescribed time-slots. Having produced some writing, you will identify the next practical step to move your work forward.

Julia Hendricks is one of our Academic Engagement Librarians and has been with the University of Westmisnter for 19 years. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing and has an interest creating spaces for writers with marginalised identities to write freely and inventively.
