Rebecca will provide a background to the world of personal finance as well as offering practical tips and advice on making the best choices in the early stages of your career.

About the speaker
Rebecca Fearnley, consumer advocate, researcher and journalist (Journalism Studies MA, 1996)
Rebecca has extensive knowledge of and insight into consumer issues, having spent more than two decades working for the consumer organisation Which? until leaving in July 2022. Working initially as a personal finance journalist, she investigated numerous money issues, including poor investment advice, equity release mortgages, the current account market and consumer detriment in the general insurance market.
Rebecca went on to lead the Which? Money Helpline, which gives consumers guidance on a range of money questions and problems, successfully leading it through the busiest period in its history. Between 2020 and 2022 she was the co-lead on Which?’s high profile Scams impact work, leading a cross-organisational team in addressing and tackling the consumer harm arising from scams.
Rebecca is also an experienced pension trustee and spent several years doing social policy and urban regeneration research in east London. She is about to start work as a Pensions Proposition Manager at the Money and Pensions Service.
