The G.I.CON21 (Games Immersion Conference 2021) is a Virtual Conference & Expo event that will engage university students with a passion for the game industry. The event will be an opportunity to bring together students from cross-disciplinary areas across institutions around the world to engage directly with professionals from game studios on subject specialisation, including Games Design, Mechanics, Software tools, 3D Animation and Modelling, UX Design, VR/AR Development, Gamification.

The event will be held on the iLRN Virbella campus from 12-16 April. Time schedule will be based in London – UK time between 11:00-15:30 pm daily to accompany needs across institutions from all continents.

The Game - Expo event will be an opportunity to speak directly with companies for placements, internships and graduate jobs and take feedback on portfolio and career pathways.

This programme will allow students to enhance their electronic portfolio (Game Jam/ hackathons – feedback from companies) which is valuable for all the creative computing and digital media degrees for employability and networking purposes. 

Topics of the conference will include but not limited to:

  • Industry specialist talks
  • Academic talks with game impact development concept
  • Industry Expo and Networking
  • Esports Tournament
  • Workshops (Specialised topics)
  • Game Jam (iLRNFuser)

Publication and Certification

  • All participants will receive a participation certificate from the G.I.CON 21 conference committee
  • All teams participating in iLRNFuser game jam will have the chance to submit a 2-Page IEEE format article – selected submissions will have the opportunity to be published in the IEEE iLRN conference in May2021 in a dedicated session.
  • Excellent development work will be published on the iLRNFuser next generation website and will be used as part of the annual SOXR Ilrn magazine.

The conference will also include some Virtual Experience activities organised by our Tech-support team such as Virtual Soccer Tournament, Boat Racing and Treasure Hunt.

On the last day we will be starting our iLRNFuser Game Jam hackathon - details are already online. This Game Jam marathon will run for three weeks, with teams to be assembled between at least two institutions and with winners taking awards. 

G.I.CON21 will also be attended by students of the Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT) and the Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT) in Sri Lanka.
