Access to WeNetwork activities for international students

We're committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment that supports our students and graduates from around the globe. We understand that international students bring unique perspectives and aspirations, and we're here to ensure that you have access to a wide range of programmes and opportunities while meeting eligibility requirements.

Taking part in WeNetwork activities

Student visa holders are able to take part in a range of WeNetwork activities that do not require registering a business activity. This includes the Start-up 101 programme, Freelance Essentials programme, Skills Lab, Big Idea Competition (Ideate category only), appointments and other events as advertised. Additionally, we regularly promote exciting events that international students can be a part of.

Restrictions to starting a business activity in the UK for visa holders

Students who are on a Student Visa are prohibited from starting a business activity or freelancing in the UK whilst on that visa based on UK regulations. Students on this visa may still engage with WeNetwork activities to develop a plan for their business activity without having to start a business activity until they are eligible to do so.

When Student visa holders become eligible to start their activity after transitioning to another visa allowing them to do so, WeNetwork can offer access to additional activities to support the creation and development of a business.

Therefore, a number of activities delivered by WeNetwork may be restricted to respect UK visa requirements and this will be specified when joining activities. Restrictions apply to participation and receiving funding in the Freelance and Accelerate category of the Big Idea competition, and participation in the Elevate programme as standard. Other restrictions may apply where required.

Visa-related questions

Current students can seek further guidance about visa requirements via our Student visa page.

Graduates would need to research visa requirements on the UK government website to identify which visa option best suits their needs.
