- Computational Vision and Imaging Technology
About me
Dr. Barbara Villarini is a Reader in Computer Science at the University of Westminster. Over the past decade, she has conducted research in image and video processing, computer vision, image quality assessment, and 3D reconstruction, with a focus on medical imaging computing.
After earning her PhD in Information Engineering from the University of Perugia (Italy), Dr. Villarini joined the Centre for Medical Image Computing (CMIC) at University College London, where she contributed to pioneering image-guidance systems for minimally invasive cancer diagnosis and treatment. Her multidisciplinary team received several awards for contributions to research and cancer care. In 2020, Dr. Villarini was awarded the prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship. Her current research focuses on integrating image-processing techniques with Artificial Intelligence across diverse domains, such as healthcare and autonomous vehicles, to enhance well-being, improve healthcare outcomes, and address complex challenges in these industries.
Research
