The Neuroscience, Inflammatory Disorders & Therapeutics group aims to investigate the mechanisms underlying neurological and inflammatory diseases and to understand fundamental principles of biological pathways relating to inflammation, with the aim of identifying novel therapeutic agents to delay or halt disease progression or alleviate symptoms. Current research areas include Epilepsy, Stroke, Liver diseases (ALD and NAFLD), Iron dysregulation, Inflammation, Neurotransmission and Glutamate receptor assembly.

The group has technical expertise in:

  • multiplex tissue analysis (histology, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, in situ hybridisation)
  • digital pathology (whole slide scanning, image analysis)
  • microscopy (brightfield, fluorescence, confocal)
  • genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics
  • flow cytometry
  • cell and slice culture and in vitro assays
