What's involved?
Our Start-Up 101 programme gives you the tools to generate viable business ideas, turn concepts into commercial opportunities, and build your entrepreneurial skills and mindset.
Led by successful entrepreneurs and industry experts, it’s designed for anyone dreaming of bringing their business ideas to life. Think of it as your launchpad for start-up success.
Wherever you are right now – whether you have a business, an idea or no idea at all – you’ll gain practical skills, explore opportunities, grow your network and have fun along the way.
Workshops
You’ll take part in online and in-person workshops, covering topics such as:
- developing your entrepreneurial mindset and spotting opportunities
- creating a business model and value proposition
- using AI to grow your start-up
- finding the right product-market fit
- pitching your ideas and presenting with impact
One-to-one appointments with experts
Our Meet the Expert sessions give you the opportunity to connect with industry professionals for tailored insights on:
- AI and technology
- accounting and finance
- funding and investment readiness
- general start-up advice
- legal help and business registration
- marketing and branding
- sales and client management
Community mixer
You’ll also take part in the Community Mixer – a supportive event where you can pitch your ideas for the Pioneer Bursary and network with the wider community.
What you'll gain
- You’ll receive a certificate of completion when you finish the programme
- Completing the programme puts you in a strong position to take your business further by entering the Westminster Big Idea Competition
Who's eligible?
The programme is open to:
- current students
- recent graduates (from the last three academic years)
You don't need experience to apply, you just need to:
- be curious to learn – show genuine interest in entrepreneurship and startups
- demonstrate commitment – actively take part in workshops and networking events
- embrace a positive attitude – be open to feedback and willing to grow
