About the event

This ‘In Conversation’ event will bring together Dibyesh Anand and Deborah Husbands, the two Founding Co-Chairs of the University of Westminster’s Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Committee.

Since 2017, the BME Network has served as a safe, affirmative, and critically constructive space for BME staff and allies united in their pursuit of equity and resistance to structural racism. Deborah and Dibyesh will reflect on the contextual factors that led to the inception of the Network, key milestones and challenges during its evolution, and will share thoughts on current urgencies and future trajectories.

The event promises rare insight into strategies which have driven institutional change, providing valuable lessons for those interested in how to cultivate an inclusive and empowering environment. The event also marks the end of Dibyesh’s foundational term as a Co-Chair, and an extraordinarily productive collaboration with Deborah. The conversation will be mediated by Samir Pandya, and will be followed by a drinks reception to celebrate Black History Month.
