The University’s Alumni Relations Team have sent out their annual Seasons Greeting’s video e-card for the festive season.

This year’s e-card is a compilation of colleagues, students and alumni talking about what they love most about the holidays and signifies how the Westminster community has stayed connected throughout 2020. The video was produced by MOTIONAL, a creative production studio founded by Katia Shipulina, a recent graduate from the Film BA Honours course. The studio is supported by the Graduate Venture Accelerator programme of the Creative Enterprise Centre (CEC)

Each year, the University’s Alumni Relations Team send out a festive e-card to the Westminster community to wish them a happy holiday and thank them for their ongoing support. Westminster’s 180,000-strong alumni community is intrinsic to the University’s mission. Thousands of alumni dedicate their time and support, through volunteering or giving generously, to help students reach their potential. The Season’s Greetings e-card is one way that the University can recognise and thank these individuals for their dedication.

Talking about creating the video, Katia Shipulina said: “I was very excited to have this opportunity to create something sweet and cheerful for the University's community. It has been a challenging year for many of us, and I was hoping to inspire everyone to stay together and stay connected with the people that matter to them at least virtually as it's not yet possible to meet physically.

“25 students, alumni, lecturers and members of staff took part in the video and it was very heart-warming to hear everyone share their favourite things about the holiday season, which easily put me into the festive mood and got me excited about the upcoming holidays even more.”

Fatma Ali, a student who took part in the video, said: “It was really fun to be a part of the season’s greetings video. I hope it reminds students that they are not alone, even though it may feel that way lately, and to find comfort in family, friends and small joys, like winter walks and hot chocolate, in this festive season.

“The University has tried hard to be as responsive as possible during these trying times. I am especially grateful for the testing centres at the University that allowed me to travel back home knowing I would not be infecting my family.”
