How to deliver a great walking tour – training for students

The Sustainable Cities and the Urban Environment Research Community is offering an exciting training and development opportunity for Westminster students.

We are organising a free 2-day session that focuses on the skills and knowledge required to lead an urban walking tour. This will involve contributions from some of London’s most innovative guides and guide trainers, including representatives from Unseen Tours and Open-City.

This opportunity is being offered in conjunction with a new ‘sustainable urbanism’ themed walking tour linking our central London campuses which will launch in Sept 2023. This project is funded by the Quintin Hogg Trust.

Our goal is to give students the skills, knowledge and confidence to lead these tours in the future. Participants will also learn more about our local neighbourhoods and about the different aspects of sustainable urbanism.

The training sessions will be held on June 14 and 15 at our Marylebone Campus. Over two days you will have the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals – in the classroom but also out in the city.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who has an interest in leading walking tours, particularly those interested in sustainability. You will have the chance to develop your public speaking, research and presentation skills, which can be applied in many areas of life.

If you're interested in participating, please contact Rafaela Tripalo by June 1st, stating clearly your level of study (preference will be given to continuing students).

We look forward to hearing from you and hope to see you at the training sessions.
