We are committed not just to celebrating Black History Month in October, but every month, through our Black History Year programme.

Why we celebrate

We celebrate to educate and raise awareness on our Black history by showcasing stories, lives, politics, creativity, and achievements. It is a chance to learn from, and share space with amazing Black historians, musicians, executives, writers, artists, thinkers, academics and our own alumni.

Our events programme

Join us at one of our events or find out more via our Black History Year webpage and our Student Hub events page. If you wish to suggest any event ideas, new stories or articles, we would love to hear from you. Please email us at [email protected].

Immerse yourself in an evening of culture, unity, and celebration as we pay homage to remarkable musical achievements and creativity of the Black community.

This ‘In Conversation’ event will bring together Dibyesh Anand and Deborah Husbands, the two Founding Co-Chairs of Westminster’s Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Committee. The event promises rare insight into strategies which have driven institutional change, providing valuable lessons for those interested in how to cultivate an inclusive and empowering environment.

Organised and led by Dr Shantella Sherman, we will investigate how 100 years of Eugenic laws have shaped perception and how we confront those ideals today.

In full acknowledgement of racial and intersectional inequity, this conference aims to provide a vibrant platform for Black academics, students, practitioners and professional services colleagues to amplify their voices in sharing research in areas addressing the conference themes.
