This will be a hybrid event (in-person and virtual) where you will meet and listen to researcher and practitioner presentations on how Process Mining is currently being used in the UK. You will also have a chance to share ideas, collaborate, obtain support, and shape the development of the community.
Location: CG.24/25 Innovation Space, University of Westminster, 115 New Cavendish Street, London, W1B 2HW & Online (link to be provided post-registration)
Event programme
- 5:30pm Networking
- 6pm Academic Presentation followed by Q&A
Process Mining and Modelling for the Telecoms industry, Prof Sally McClean, Ulster University
This talk will focus on a number of examples and use cases developed in BTIIC (BT Ireland Innovation Centre) which has been working on the different aspects of Process Mining that have emerged as being particularly important in the Telecoms industry. In this domain, process data may relate to customers, services or computer systems often generating rich process data which can be mined and modelled to improve understanding of process dynamics, identify anomalies and facilitate timely predictions and interventions.
About the speaker:
Sally McClean received her first degree in Mathematics from Oxford University and then obtained an MSc in Mathematical Statistics and Operational Research from Cardiff University, followed by a PhD on Markov and semi-Markov models at Ulster University. She is currently a Professor of Mathematics at Ulster University. Her main research interests are in Stochastic Modelling and Optimisation, particularly for Healthcare Planning, and Computer Science, specifically Databases, Process Mining, Sensor Technology and Telecommunications.
Much of this work has been focused on healthcare applications, particularly with regard to patient modelling and pervasive technologies. More recently, Sally has been working in the Invest Northern Ireland (INI) funded Ireland Innovation Centre (BTIIC) - mainly carrying out research into Process Modelling and Mining. She has been a grant holder on over £15 million worth of funding, mainly from the EPSRC, Industry, the EU and charities.
Sally is a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society, Fellow of the Operational Research Society, Fellow of the IMA, a past President of the Irish Statistical Association and a member of the IEEE. She has published over three hundred research papers and was previously a recipient of Ulster University’s Senior Distinguished Research Fellowship.
- 6:30pm Practitioner Presentation/Q&A
Deutsche Bank's KYC Ops Process Mining Journey - Challenges & Achievements, Carl Halford, KYC Process Optimisation Lead, Deutsche Bank
As part of its continuous improvement initiatives, Deutsche Bank has used Celonis to support its process mining capabilities within the KYC Transformation space. The bank has developed a suite of process mining dashboards to provide near real-time transparency into onboarding and client KYC refresh processes enabling process improvement initiatives to be led by data-driven initiatives. Carl discusses the journey his team has been on, the ups and downs along the way (including the challenges successfully overcome) and the next steps in the journey.
About the speaker:
Carl is an experienced senior manager, with over 25 years of experience in continuous improvement, change and transformation leadership and strategic-level programme, and project management. He is a certified Six Sigma black belt and green belt trainer, holding certifications in change and project management, along with digital transformation and Robotic Process Automation. Carl is a Chartered IT Professional (CITP) with the British Computer Society as well as holding a fellowship with the Association for Project Management (FAPM).
- 7:00pm Networking around drinks and nibbles
