Presented by the School of Social Sciences, this programme of events showcase interesting research and speakers in the School and externally.

3 May

10–11am: Food, taste and consumption walking tour of Soho
This 90 minute walking tour around Soho in London explores sites related to the Sociology of Food. Led by Dr Emily Falconer.
Meet at the Regent Street foyer.

1–4pm: Be inspired! Special outreach event for Year 12 students (fully booked)
This event takes place in Room UG05.

5.30–7pm: What is decolonisation? Does it deliver or disappoint?
Dr Leon Moosavi and Dr Riadh Ghemmour discuss what decolonisation means to them, and whether the notion of decolonisation really does have the potential to deliver on a more just and equitable society.
This event takes place in Fyvie Hall. It will be followed by a drinks reception from 7–9pm.

4 May

10am–12pm: INQUEST: unlocking the truth for 40 years
Hear more about how INQUEST has fought to create a radical vision of justice.
This event takes place in Fyvie Hall.

12–12.30pm: Lunch
Available to ticket holders for INQUEST: unlocking the truth and Living through better technology. Food will be provided.
Lunch will take place in Fyvie Hall.

12.30–2pm: Living through better technology
Find out how researchers in the School of Social Sciences are tackling the health and social challenges of our times, using technology.
This event takes place in Fyvie Hall.

4–5.30pm: Comparing the energy crises 1973 to 2023
Professor Roland Dannreuther and Dr Wojciech Ostrowski will explore how energy security came to the forefront of global politics.
This event takes place in Fyvie Hall.

6–9pm: Pride Belongs to the People: Images of Soweto and Ekurhuleni Pride exhibition and festival drinks reception 
This event documents the struggles, circumstances and demands of black LGBTQ+ activists in Soweto and Ekurhuleni, South Africa.
This event takes place in the Regent Street foyer.
