Part of the Westminster Welcome Festival, this event is exclusively for our new students.

The idea of the game Taboo is to describe the given word without saying the banned words.
Why not join us for a session and play along too?
Hosted by Library and Student Services staff, this game is great at making you think of other words to describe something, so it can help with your language skills and keyword searching too.
Just drop in to play anytime during the session time if you’d like to join in with the guessing.
Time and dates
All times are in BST (British Summer Time).
- 15 September at 3-4pm
- 16 September at 11am -12pm
- 17 September at 3-4pm
The games last 45 minutes, but you can pop in whenever you like if you only want to guess. All the sessions are hosted by Library staff (Sara Hafeez or Sarah Feehan)
How the game works
At the start of the game, the list of words for you to describe when it is your turn will be sent to you.
Next to each word on your list, there is another set of words that you are not allowed to say. For example, if you have the word “whisper” you have to describe the word without saying “quiet, secret, talk, or softly”. You would also not allowed to say “whispering or whispered” as it contains the word “whisper”.
Points are scored by each word that is correctly guessed by us in 1 minute.
You can pass on words that are tricky and if you say one of the banned words, you must move on to the next word.
Those who are guessing will be using the chat function on the right – fastest fingers win!
