Diplomatic Academy of London

DAL is a department within the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Languages. It includes the Westminster Global Diplomatic Academy and Westminster International Military Language Testing Centre which runs the MODLEB (University of Westminster & Ministry of Defence Languages Examinations Board) Scheme.

Diplomats and students from about 148 countries have attended the diplomatic studies programme since its inception in 1980. Our courses and training programmes have attracted members of the London Diplomatic Corps, who are accredited to the Court of St James's, as well as diplomats from various Ministries for Foreign Affairs, officials from overseas governments, staff of international and regional organisations, and graduates aspiring to a career in governments and corporations.

Courses offered by DAL are valued by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, overseas Ministries for Foreign Affairs, Diplomatic Missions in London, international and regional organisations, multinational corporations and individual students for their relevance and focus on career development. DAL has been involved in training groups of diplomats from the Commonwealth , Eastern/Central Europe and Central Asia who have been sponsored by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

DAL is a participant in the UK Forum on Diplomatic Training, Central European Initiative Forum on Diplomatic Training and the International Forum on Diplomatic Training.

Ministry of Defence Languages Examination Board

The University of Westminster provides examinations for all UK forces personnel who undergo defence language training.
