The University of Westminster has been rated Silver in the latest Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2023.

The University was awarded Silver as its overall rating, Silver for Student Experience and Silver for Student Outcomes. This means that its standard of delivery in these areas and overall has been judged to be typically Very High Quality.

The ratings, which last for four years, are a combination of metrics and a written submission.
Westminster’s submission describes the University’s practical teaching, range of student support, and the employability and travel opportunities on offer which are all part of the student experience and support positive outcomes for Westminster students.

Speaking about the result Professor Peter Bonfield, Vice-Chancellor and President, said: “I am so pleased that we have been rated as Silver in the Teaching Excellence Framework. This has been achieved thanks to the collective efforts of thousands of colleagues alongside our Students’ Union, Governors, Alumni, employer partners and more over the last five years. Our Silver rating has been achieved by us staying true to our special and distinctive purpose, supporting our wonderfully diverse community of students, broad coverage of subject areas, aligned with our values and priorities around wellbeing, inclusion and sustainable development.”

The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) is a national scheme run by the Office for Students (OfS) that recognises providers for high quality teaching and student outcomes. The TEF assesses and rates universities and colleges for excellence above a set of minimum requirements for quality and standards.
