This seminar will explore ethical strategies for encouraging COVID-19 vaccination, with a focus on transparent communication. The presentation will encompass a series of studies aimed at gaining a deeper understanding of COVID-19 vaccination decisions and developing trustworthy digital health communication for COVID-19.

Our research comprises three key areas:

  1. Global Predictors of Vaccination Uptake: We begin by investigating the factors influencing vaccination uptake in a large cohort from the UK and the US, exploring global predictors that shape these decisions.
  2. The Role of Internet Links in Trustworthy Messaging: In the second segment of our research, we delve into the significance of internet links within electronic vaccination invitation messages, exploring their impact on recipients' trust and vaccination booking intentions. We compare user-friendly weblinks with those that are challenging to decipher to shed light on their implications.
  3. Enhancing Trust through Information Sharing: Our third line of research focuses on the kind of information that can be shared via text messages to foster trust and vaccination intention. Through a systematic experimental approach, we evaluate the effectiveness of sharing benefits alone versus sharing both benefits and risks (as compared to a control group with no information).

Join us in this seminar as we discuss the ethical promotion of COVID-19 vaccination, striving to provide insights and tools for a transparent and trust-driven approach.

Open to all Social Sciences staff and students.
