Insight sessions

You can inspire our students to make informed decisions about their future by hosting an insight session, providing an insider’s view into your organisation, the work that you do and the industry you work in. Insight sessions give students the chance to network with your graduates and staff and the opportunity to ask questions and find out what life and a career at your organisation is really like.

What can the student do?

We can advise on how to design the insight experience to make the most of the opportunity. This could include meetings and networking sessions, tours of your organisation, simulation exercises or presentations and Q&A panels.

Where would the insight session take place?

Insight sessions are hosted by employers in their premises and provide an insight into the industry, the organisation and the recruitment opportunities that the organisation is offering. Duration and timing is to be discussed with the relevant team.

If you have already scheduled an insight session and would like to promote it to our students through Engage, our jobs and events platform please email us with your event at .

Who can offer insight days?

We are seeking offers from host organisations in all employment sectors.

How to apply?

Please complete this form.

How much does it cost?

Insight sessions have no cost for the host organisation. Where students are attending employer premises, it is at the discretion of the organisation to offer lunch and/ or travel expenses. If the insight session takes place on-site, employers will also need to have relevant insurance and provide a health and safety induction.

Host an Inclusive Futures: Insights session

For employers particularly looking to diversify their workforce and inspire the next generation of talent, you could chose to host an Inclusive Futures: Insight session. Inclusive Futures: Insights is an employability-focused programme designed to provide students from typically underrepresented backgrounds in Higher Education the opportunity to grow their network, build confidence and gain an insight into career opportunities. Employers can take part by hosting insight sessions for approximately 30 students. These take place at the employer’s premises and last around four hours. Insight sessions run between November and April. For more information on this specific programme, please email [email protected].

Networking events and panel discussions

These events are a great way to meet students interested in a career in your industry as well as network with professionals who work in your area. It is also a great opportunity to meet staff within the University and find out more about how the University can support you and your business.

Skills sessions and employer presentations

These sessions are a great way to share knowledge and professional experiences with the new generation of industry professionals and help your organisation to create memorable high-quality interactions with students. These sessions can be arranged as part of our regular employer sessions held throughout the academic year.

Previous sessions have included topics such as:

  • Effective verbal communication and body language
  • Writing effective industry-specific job applications
  • Business etiquette and influential communication
  • First steps and careers in the industry
  • Self-management and teamwork
