About the event
Wesak, also known as Buddha Day, commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and passing of the Buddha. This year, we're celebrating it the Tibetan way, with a series of enriching activities and cultural experiences.
Highlights of the event include:
- Tibetan Buddhist prayers and chanting: Experience the spiritual richness of Tibetan Buddhist tradition with a select group from the Tibetan Community in Britain.
- Tibetan singing bowl meditation: Led by Kunchok Nyima, a former Tibetan monk, this session will guide you through the transformative power of the Tibetan singing bowl, helping you cultivate wisdom and inner peace.
- Goody bags: Take home a piece of Tibetan culture with goody bags filled with Tibetan cultural artifacts.
Organised by the University of Westminster's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team in collaboration with Tibet Society, this event is a part of World in Westminster Festival series. We have run brilliant and inclusive festival events for all, including: Diwali, Hannukah, Yalda Night, Nowruz, Ramadan and Passover. This event is part of the QHT funded EDI programme “Community and Communities: Being Westminster 2023-2024.
About Kunchok Nyima: Kunchok Nyima, a former Tibetan monk, brings over 15 years of monastic practice and a deep understanding of Tibetan Buddhist tradition to his teachings. He believes in the transformative power of the Tibetan singing bowl as a tool for cultivating wisdom and inner peace.
Join us for this special celebration of Wesak Day and experience the richness of the local and global diversity of the University of Westminster.
